South Dakota’s cattle producers are proud to sponsor the 83 rd Sturgis ®Motorcycle Rally™ through the South Dakota Beef Industry Council. Established in 1964, the SDBIC collects a $1-per- head assessment on cattle sold in South Dakota for promotion, education and research programs related to beef. Fifty cents of every dollar is submitted to the national Cattlemen’s Beef Board for national and international programs, while the SDBIC retains 50 cents to invest in additional in-state, national or international programs its board members deem appropriate.

Beef producers from eight agricultural organizations are represented on the SDBIC: The South Dakota Beef Breeds Council, South Dakota Cattlemen’s Association, South Dakota Cattlemen’s Auxiliary, South Dakota CattleWomen, South Dakota Farm Bureau, South Dakota Farmers Union, South Dakota Livestock Auction Market Association and South Dakota Stockgrowers Association.
