News from the Sturgis® Motorcycle Rally
STURGIS, S.D. (AP) - A well-known hot spot during the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota won't be sold after all.
The high bid at a Wednesday auction for the One Eyed Jack's Saloon on Main Street was $9.2 million. Peter Gold, son of saloon founder Ray Gold, says the amount isn't enough and the offer has been refused.
Gold tells KEVN that the high bid of Louis Bruer, owner of the No Name City Campground east of Sturgis, was about $1 million off.
The annual motorcycle rally draws hundreds of thousands of people. Auctioneer Martin Jurisch earlier told KOTA-TV that he marketed the business to buyers from California to Florida.
