News from the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally
From humble beginnings playing biker venues in Northern California to one of the most successful rock bands in history, The Doobie Brothers have made their mark on the music world, while never forgetting the people who represent the start of their success – bikers like the ones who regularly attend the Buffalo Chip during the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
With a string of Sturgis biker hits like “Rockin’ Down The Highway,” “China Grove,” “Listen To The Music,” “South City Midnight Lady,” and “Black Water,” their music was custom made to be played in every American biker bar.
And, guitarist Patrick Simmons provides a great example of why the Buffalo Chip and the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is so important to so many bikers. It was at the Chip that rocker Simmons met biker journalist Cris Sommer. And, like so many other Sturgis bikers, the love they found in Sturgis has endured. Patrick and Cris Simmons will celebrate the beginning of their love and their shared love of motorcycling this year when they return to The Chip.
Campground owner Rod Woodruff said Sturgis Rally music fans can expect an electrifying Buffalo Chip concert performance featuring Tom Johnston’s rock riffs and Simmons finger-pickin’ excellence.
“Everybody knows every song and every song will ring in our audience’s head for weeks after they’ve had the time of their lives here at the Chip,” said Rod Woodruff, campground owner.
